Rondo: The point guard must control the rhythm through movement. The passing as long as it is reasonable, no matter whether it is fancy or not.

Recently, Rondo was a guest on Giannis Antetokounmpo's podcast "Thanalysis Show", during which he talked about the art of traditional point guards.

Brother Antetokounmpo: How to pass the ball better and control the rhythm of the game on the basketball court?

Rondo: This is an art. When you're standing in front of your opponent, you can control the rhythm by moving left and right, but it's different for younger players because their level is already above yours. Sometimes they can even foresee the outcome of an action before it is completed.

Brother Antetokounmpo: So, how to teach people to improve their passing skills? For example, how do you make the game slow and reasonable?

Rondo: This is difficult to teach directly, but for me, there are a few points to share. For example, I have my son focus on passing the ball after shootaround. I would tell him not to be afraid of making a mistake or passing a ball that is not timely or accurate because in the game, a lot of players' passes are not perfect. In addition, I will also teach him some skills such as passing behind the back. I remember coaches would say to use both hands to pass the ball, and some coaches would ask to use only one hand, but I think as long as the results are good, that's fine. These different approaches can really affect how you pass the ball. If you practice these skills in training, you'll be able to master these techniques in competition. Even if you miss the ball sometimes, don't worry too much because it's part of growing up. The key is how much effort you put into your training. If you put in the effort, the coach will naturally give you the opportunity to show your abilities. Throughout my career, whether in college or in the pros, I've always tried the same techniques in games that I practiced in practice. Even if I make mistakes sometimes, I don't pay too much attention to the failure part. I'm not doing it to show off, but to make the right choice at the right time.
