On Tuesday local time, Ligue 1 team Nantes officially announced that 45-year-old Portuguese coach Luis Castro has become the team's new head coach.
Nante officially announced that Castro became the club's professional team coach, and the two sides signed a two-year contract with a one-year renewal option.
Castro began his coaching career in 2000. After many years of experience, he returned to Portugal to serve as the head coach of Benfica's youth team in 2019 and led the U19 to a triple championship in 2022. In 2023, he came to France to coach the French Ligue 2 team Dunkirk, and led the team to achieve good results in two years.
The 45-year-old coach is highly praised for his offensive style, personal charisma and ability to incorporate young players into professional teams. He will lead the team in preparation for the new season starting June 30, and the club will announce his coaching team in the next few days.
