Alonso leaves Leverkusen as Real Madrid head coach this summer. Liverpool's former player Stewart Downing believes that Alonso will still become the head coach of the Reds in the future.

Downing said: "I thought Amorin would take over Liverpool's coach after Klopp left office. He and Alonso seemed to be the most likely candidate, but Slot suddenly appeared and got the job. I think Alonso must be one of the candidates Liverpool has come into contact with and might even really consider him. Obviously, Alonso will have some concerns, and from his point of view, Doruleverkusen may be a wise decision for a year.

"As a young coach, if his coaching at Liverpool is not ideal, he can only start over again. Alonso chose to stay for another year, and while Leverkusen did not defend the league title, they remained competitive and were an exciting team. If Liverpool looks for a new coach again, I think Alonso will accept it, of course, it's too late to say that. But I believe Alonso will coach Liverpool in the future.

"As for Amorin, maybe the Reds don't like his philosophy, or did he ask for a lot of money to invest in the team after something happened? Maybe the attitude of the club owners discouraged him. They told Slott that there wouldn't be too much money, so Amorin chose another way. Who knows? Maybe Liverpool has always regarded Slott as their first choice, but we just don't know."
