According to The Athletic, La Liga president Tebas asked FIFA to cancel the FFC World Cup. He said that the current schedule is not scheduled for the Club World Cup, and there is no need to set up such an event that gives money to specific club groups.
It is reported that La Liga president Tebas demanded that FIFA give up the new version of the club World Cup after the expansion. Tebas said his "purpose" is to completely cancel the one-month-long Club World Cup with 32 teams participating. Currently, the Club World Cup is being held in the United States. La Liga clubs Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid are both participating in the event, however, Tebas claims that the event must be "cancelled" from the football schedule.
When participating in the event of the 10th anniversary of the La Liga centralized sales broadcasting rights, Tebas said: "My goal is to ensure that the club World Cup will not be held in the future, which is very clear."
When asked if the future events can be adjusted, Tebas said that the improvement plan is not feasible because the existing football schedule "can't find" the appropriate schedule.
Tebas said: "There is no need to set up another event that will transfer funds to specific club groups. There is no more money in the football industry. We must maintain the ecosystem balance and cancel this event."
62-year-old Tebas has long had disagreements with Real Madrid president Florentino, especially the European Premier League plan promoted by Real Madrid. Tebas said his conflict with Florentino was "not a personal grudge", but added: "He represents a completely different industrial model, and the European Super League he advocated would destroy the local leagues of various countries."
In addition, as La Liga president, Tebas pointed out that "poaching behavior" and "new events" are the two major threats faced by the La Liga governing body. In April 2024, Tebas insisted that he would achieve overseas La Liga in the 2025-26 season, and said that holding competitions in the United States will "consolidate the position of La Liga in the North American market."
