Dortmund senior Watzke was interviewed recently and talked about Schlotterbeck's contract extension.
Watzke said: "Of course I also clarified to him what it means to be a world-class star in Dortmund like Hummels, but the decision is in his own hands."
Schlotterbeck's current contract will expire in 2026. According to Sky Sports Germany, he has received a contract to be signed until 2030, with an annual salary of about 10 million euros.
