According to Spanish "World Sports", Atletico Madrid fans will pass legal procedures to require UEFA to announce the VAR video and audio cancellation of Alvarez's penalty kick in the Champions League last season.

In the second leg of the Champions League quarter-finals last season, Alvarez's penalty kick in the penalty shootout was cancelled by the referee on duty on the grounds of a second touch, which caused huge controversy after the game. It is reported that Atletico Madrid fans' organization "Atlanie Madrid International Fan Club League" announced today that it has taken further measures to seek compensation for the penalty and results.

The organization said they had sent a letter to UEFA and the recipient was UEFA President Cheferin. And in this letter they asked UEFA to release the complete, original VAR video and audio records, but UEFA has not responded yet. The organization then stated: "Our team of lawyers will file a lawsuit in the competent court to safeguard transparency and the rights of Atletico Madrid fans."

It is worth mentioning that a few months ago, the organization had commissioned experts to review a video shared by UEFA: UEFA used this video to prove that Julian Alvarez's penalty kick had two touches. At the time, the organization claimed the video had been edited based on an expert report.

The organization insisted that "the penalty was unreasonable and there was no clear evidence to show that there were two touches." In addition, the organization sent a lawyer's letter to Atletico Madrid (Note: Spain has the formal notice of legal effect) to ask the club to "formally ask UEFA for the original video of the disputed penalty," and stated that all the above actions were accompanied by a legal statement - if the truth is not clarified, they will not hesitate to resort to judicial proceedings.
