RMC reported that Golden Globe winner Dembele returned to his hometown of Evreau this Sunday to receive the City Medal.
In front of the City Hall, Dembele showed the Ballon d'Or trophy to the enthusiastic fans. Mayor Guy LeFranc personally presented him with the City Medal, praising him as "the pride of the city" and a "true role model", and saying that Dembélé's achievements are an extraordinary recognition for the entire city.
Dembele sincerely thanked the people in his hometown for their support in his speech. He said that Evreux was his source of strength and that he spent an extraordinary childhood here.
The celebration then moved to the Mathieu Bodmer Stadium of Evreux Football Club, where Dembélé’s football career began. In order to ensure the safety and orderliness of the event, a limit of 3,000 people was set on site. The organizers also played a video on a giant screen, reviewing Dembele's glorious career from Rennes, Dortmund, Barcelona to Paris Saint-Germain.
